In 1998 I attended culinary school where I was trained in classical French cuisine. I soon realized that it wasn't me. After graduating SCI, I left Phoenix in search of which cuisine best fit my passion for food. I found myself on the east coast learning about seafood and Asian flavors. I went to work under Chef Ming Tsai at his famous restaurant Blue Ginger in Massachusetts. The forces to be brought me back to Arizona where I have been ever since.
Over the years, Thai cuisine was my main focus, opening several restaurants around the valley. Eventually, I found Sushi, or shall I say Sushi found me! After that, I was hooked! I wanted to open a place with my own vision, believing food in one of the most powerful languages in defining culture.
At Squid Ink, we are always trying to create new and interesting ways to interpret that vision through sushi, contemporary design and music.
I want to try new things and ask questions. I want you to stuff your face. I want you to laugh and enjoy food and life!
